Children’s Day Celebrations

Children’s Day is the most auspicious day in the life of every child. In India, Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He loved children dearly and is fondly remembered as Chacha Nehru by them. Pandit Nehru was very fond of kids and advocated children’s education as he strongly believed that they were the future leaders of the nation. He was a strong believer of instilling rich moral virtues in children. He was of the opinion that children should be moulded from a young age properly so that they can become productive and responsible citizens of the country.

Children’s Day, therefore, emphasises the importance of showering love and affection to each child. It is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm across the country. Every child cherishes this day as they get to enjoy it to the fullest. It is important to remember that this special occasion is celebrated to take Pandit Nehru’s dream of providing quality education to each child so that they can become the future building blocks of the nation and contribute towards the greater benefit of the society.

On this occasion of children’s Day this year Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan has organized various fun games and activities. Each and every one took an active participation and played fun games with enthusiasm. There was over Joyce and happiness filled in everyone’s faces.  A variety of games were conducted for children from classes 1 to 10. There were games like Basket Ball, Tennis, Rubik’s Cube, Chess, Skating, Taekwondo etc. Everyone’s innate talents were exhibited in the games that were conducted. All our Prakashites were eagerly waiting for such an opportunity since a long time. Selections were also done for a few sports for the next level. A Cut- throat competition was prevailing amongst us during the competitions. Children from each class gad a different sport or a game and class wise winners and runners were selected for every event. I too participated in a few of them viz. ‘How I Teach’, ‘Chess’, ‘Rubic Cube’ and ‘Basketball’. There were other competitions held too like Elocution, Story Telling, ‘One-Minute- Talk’ etc. Students from classes 6 to 10 have participated and given their best by explaining various topics using Power Point Presentation, Charts, Models and many other interesting resources. There was a beautiful interaction between the students and the explainer in the ‘How I teach’ session. I was overwhelmed with all the games and competitions held.

On the very special day, all our teachers have conducted the assembly replacing us which was pretty fun to watch. A humorous skit was also performed awakening the spirit of ‘Eradication Plastic usage’. The later part of the day, we were shown a motivational movie. On the whole, the day was filled with fun and Frolic.  For this beautiful experience,  I thank my school Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best school in Visakhapatnam for giving me this opportunity and experience.
