INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

On the 15th of August, the Sri Prakash fraternity came together at their Kapuluppada campus  to celebrate the 77th glorious Independence Day of India! It was a tapestry woven with  patriotism, unity, and cultural brilliance. The Campus was decorated by the students with a  tri-color theme. The guests for the day and well known Gastroenterologist, Dr Chalapathi Rao Achanta and Indian Naval Commander Pushpajit Ojha, were welcomed to the ground  with a march past led by NCC cadets followed by the hoisting of the national flag. Boys from classes 6 to 10 dazzled the audience with their acrobatic finesse, shaping diverse figures like pyramids and a human centipede. The indoor activities began with speeches by the dignitaries. Dr Chalapathi Rao Achanta stressed the responsibilities of the students and parents in handling gadgets. Commander Ojha informed the students about discipline as an essential attribute to nation building, appreciating the skills of the students in their marching and acrobatics. U Harshita presented the Evolution of the Indian flag in Telugu. She unveiled how the flag is our cherished national identity, exclusive to every citizen. The flag’s origin and the remarkable journey that led to the official adoption of our iconic tricolor were described illustratively. Students of classes 7, 8 and 9 delivered a powerful rendition of “Ye Bhoomi Hamaare Veeronki.” The song conveyed that we are the descendants of valiant soldiers who bravely fought for our freedom, and live in the embrace of our heroic land. The cherubs gracefully danced to the tune of “Just Like You.” Their innocent charm, amplified by their attire, mirrored the traditional dresses from various states. Each step showed the rich cultural heritage of our nation, underlining the message that while our states boast diverse traditions, we remain united as Indians. A stimulating call to fellow citizens was made by Jatin in hindi, emphasizing our role in national progress. Yashas, in his eloquent speech “India of My Dreams,” recounted our journey and envisioned India to be an exemplar to the world. Senior girls of classes 8, 9 and 10 rocked the stage, fusing traditional and Western dance to “VandeMataram” and “Swagatham.” The room pulsed with energy as the audience cheered in exhilaration. Adhvika and Samsthitha ignited a sense of patriotism through their recitation of Rabindranath Tagore’s “Where the Mind is Without Fear” from “Gitanjali.” The event proceeded with the announcement of the new school leaders, who were bestowed badges from esteemed guests and the Director Sir. Mementos were presented to the guests and they had expressed gratitude and shared motivating words. The event culminated with a heartfelt vote of thanks, leaving the audience full of spirit from the captivating hour-and-a-half showcase.

Best Article Awards presented by INTACH

Being born in the country of culture, vast amount of resources, many of us don’t recognize the history or the travel of the resource. Through this platform of INTACH club, I got an opportunity to research, explore and evaluate about the history of fabric “Jute”.   It is well known that fibre was first used to build shelters and later to create garments and other utility items.  Being astonished of its history and its greatness, I wrote a few paragraphs on its importance and its uses. Throughout my writing experience I felt proud for writing a small article that could give knowledge about this fabric’s precious history to many others. My gratitude to the INTACH club for constantly educating others and reminding the fact that ‘OLD IS GOLD’. My article which was published in the Young Intach News letter : “A True saying that, “give value to your life”, in our case taking jute into considerations, this fabric woven from a fibre truly fits the quote. Jute played a key role in the textile from the third millennium B.C. The fabric ‘Jute’ caught the eye of the people in British and they started trading the fabric during the 17th Century, i.e during the World War I Billions of jutes sand bags were exported from Bengal to the trenches. This Jute Industry had a hike in the 18th and 19th century. But, due to the entering of the synthetic fibres in 1970 the graph went down. In the Current century jute once again showed its importance in the export crop. Even after these many centuries it holds its place strong than ever.”                                                                                –  B APRAMAYAWSRI, X A I felt very happy when I got the best article in Young Intach Heritage Competition. The moment I got that certificate in my hands, I felt that I have achieved a very great feat. I have gained confidence that is sufficient for my life. I felt very proud of myself.    My article which was published in the Young Intach Newsletter under the heading ‘Stately Splendours’ is as follows: KGH is a Government General Hospital located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the largest and busiest government hospital in Andhra Pradesh.  The hospital has been serving the needs of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjacent Orissa for more than 177 years. The hospital takes nearly 1000 cases(OPA) daily, of people coming from even Orissa and Chhattisgarh. It was started by an Army dispensary in 1845 and upgraded into a 30 bedded hospital in 1857. The hospital’s new building was inaugurated by Honorable Raja of Panagal, Chief Minister of Madras on 19th July 1923. The hospital sees over 1250 out patients every day in various departments.  It is one of the few modern institutions in Visakhapatnam that spends almost two centuries of continuous service, even in this pandemic time. The hospital is built with dressed stone masonry. It consists of a majestic symmetrical three – storied building with a four – storied clock tower. The hospital was named after the Monarch Ruler of Visakhapatnam, King George.                                                                                     –  K. LAKSHMI PRANAV, X B As a citizen of India, I am glad to know about our culture and heritage of India. This makes me explore more about it. Young Intach platform helped to learn and explore more about India’s culture and heritage. Involving in these activities helped me to understand more about heritage. I came to know that the saying of “Old is Gold” is always true, which depicts the old culture of India. –  R. YASWANTH, X B

Children’s Day Celebrations

Children’s Day is the most auspicious day in the life of every child. In India, Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He loved children dearly and is fondly remembered as Chacha Nehru by them. Pandit Nehru was very fond of kids and advocated children’s education as he strongly believed that they were the future leaders of the nation. He was a strong believer of instilling rich moral virtues in children. He was of the opinion that children should be moulded from a young age properly so that they can become productive and responsible citizens of the country. Children’s Day, therefore, emphasises the importance of showering love and affection to each child. It is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm across the country. Every child cherishes this day as they get to enjoy it to the fullest. It is important to remember that this special occasion is celebrated to take Pandit Nehru’s dream of providing quality education to each child so that they can become the future building blocks of the nation and contribute towards the greater benefit of the society. On this occasion of children’s Day this year Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan has organized various fun games and activities. Each and every one took an active participation and played fun games with enthusiasm. There was over Joyce and happiness filled in everyone’s faces.  A variety of games were conducted for children from classes 1 to 10. There were games like Basket Ball, Tennis, Rubik’s Cube, Chess, Skating, Taekwondo etc. Everyone’s innate talents were exhibited in the games that were conducted. All our Prakashites were eagerly waiting for such an opportunity since a long time. Selections were also done for a few sports for the next level. A Cut- throat competition was prevailing amongst us during the competitions. Children from each class gad a different sport or a game and class wise winners and runners were selected for every event. I too participated in a few of them viz. ‘How I Teach’, ‘Chess’, ‘Rubic Cube’ and ‘Basketball’. There were other competitions held too like Elocution, Story Telling, ‘One-Minute- Talk’ etc. Students from classes 6 to 10 have participated and given their best by explaining various topics using Power Point Presentation, Charts, Models and many other interesting resources. There was a beautiful interaction between the students and the explainer in the ‘How I teach’ session. I was overwhelmed with all the games and competitions held. On the very special day, all our teachers have conducted the assembly replacing us which was pretty fun to watch. A humorous skit was also performed awakening the spirit of ‘Eradication Plastic usage’. The later part of the day, we were shown a motivational movie. On the whole, the day was filled with fun and Frolic.  For this beautiful experience,  I thank my school Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best school in Visakhapatnam for giving me this opportunity and experience. –  B HEMAMADHURI, X A

Theme: Cohesion and Divergence. CHEMUN, a THIMUN affiliated conference is a platform for students to undergo debate and discourse on imperative issues was held from November 4th to November 6th, 2022, at American International School of Chennai. How I feel about the whole trip: “At first, I was unsure if it’d be any fun because I was going to travel with 8th graders but soon the trip grew on me and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a fine, last CHEMUN for me. An outstanding one, at that. The whole thing came together better than I’d imagined. My committee’s [DISEC’s] Head Chair and Co-Chairs played an important role in breaking the ice between us delegates, in the committee on the first day. Our Head Chair, Adesh Roberson was humorous and it was a fun committee. Finally, this is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had till now and I’ll be treasuring it.” – Ch.Krishna Prakash (Class XII) “I got the chance to interact with both National and International students. Since it was my experience I was a bit hesitant whether I can be a part of it or not but one small lead can result in a bigger outcome. We should strive for our success, no matter what situation we are in.” – M. Rithika (Class XI) “I have learnt how different opinions can affect a topic, how contradicting opinions can be brought together and how implementations can be done so that everyone in the committee can be satisfied. I got to learn how to work as a team inorder to reach our goal. I had a great experience at CHEMUN and I’m looking forward to experiencing it again.” – K. Lalithya (Class XI) “The debating sessions were quite engaging, funfilled and knowledgeable at the same time. Overall, it was a wonderful program for me because here it’s not only about the award or certificate which has an immense value but also about the outside world and how to coordinate with others.” – M.Sishir Prasad Raju (Class VIII) “It was my first time to CHEMUN and also debating. I was in the committee General Assembly 3 and our topic was “Addressing the issues of Malnutrition in LEDC’s”. Each one Plant one

PAPAYA SEEDS DISTRIBUTION Fruits are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, and have proved beneficial in controlling the body weight. They are a part of a healthy eating pattern and a balance diet. On 22nd October 2022, Our school had distributed Papaya seeds to all the students, to help them understand the benefits of papaya fruit. Both the students and their parents had a great time while planting the papaya seeds in their gardens. We come to know this through the happy feedback given by our Prakashites. I remember my grandmother had told me that Papaya fruit is very good for health and fitness. People often think that we can eat only papaya fruits and discard its seeds and favor the fruit’s sweet flesh. What they don’t realise is that the seeds are not only edible but also highly nutritious. Papaya seeds supply a hearty dose of fiber, they also help to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels in our body. I am glad that I have planted a papaya plant in my garden and I hope that this plant proves to be beneficial in the upcoming future, both for me and my parents.  I am excited and I am looking forward for this plant to grow as soon as possible. So that I would get to taste such yummy fruit (which is planted by me and my parents). I thank my School Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best school in Visakhapatnam for such, sweet little casing gesture. – C. Harshilkarthikeya, VII B Consumption of papaya is very beneficial for our body as it increases our appetite and strength. It is a rich source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Papaya cures dengue, prevents cancer, promotes, heart health, strengthen, bones, eases menstrual pain and reduces sleep. It is one of the nutritious fruit that we all must include in our diet. Papaya because of its unique flavour also finds place in different recipes. It can also be a potentially healthy snack while compared to all other unhealthy junk foods. I am happy that my school has come up with such a brilliant idea, that would in turn promote good and healthy habits. I thank Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best CBSE school in Visakhapatnam for such a thoughtful plan. – E. Amrutha Varshini, VII A On 22nd October, our School had given Papaya seeds to all the students. Mesmerizing Magic, Puppetry and Shadowgraphy

Magic – an art of producing illusions by sleight of hand; Shadowgraphy – an art of performing a story or show using images made by hand shadows; Puppetry – the art of operating puppets, typically either by strings controlled from above or by hand. To watch them on one platform was a captivating experience. Art of Magic, Puppetry and Shadowgraphy was presented by Mr. Prahlad Acharya in our school, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best cbse school in Visakhapatnam.  I had never seen a magic show, puppetry or shadowgraphy live. I was enchanted when Mr. Prahlad demonstrated those art forms on the stage. At first, the magic show grabbed my attention and held me locked in the tricks shown by him. I was unable to understand how he could perform it. I doubted the magic shown, not until one of the fellow friends performed the act with him. It was so interesting that I would like to watch more magic shows in my life. Puppetry, it was hilarious and magnificent. It alleviated our pressure of studies and led us to belly laugh. He was great in operating the puppet and the coordination was substantial. I could hear roars of laughter in the hall and with that it was a clear message that everyone wanted the show to go on and on. It created a lighter environment and I enjoyed it a lot. The last act, Shadowgraphy, I can guarantee that it touched everyone’s heart, including me. I was engrossed in the hand shadow performance and did not want to come out of it. Images of great personalities created by hand were awe – inspiring and the music along with that was icing on the cake. I was unable to figure out, could shadowgraphy be so stupendous. The next act that he portrayed with his hand was a beautiful relationship between an animal mother and child. The song played in the background along with the act was from the famous movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’. It had a stunning impact on me and the students as I could see and feel the tears rolling down our cheeks and eyes being locked up on the screen. The hall that was filled with laughter earlier had now turned into silence. The acts were breathtaking and also had been engraved in my mind and heart that I could never forget. The experience of watching these acts was amazing. How much effort sir may have put to learn these skills? Bringing a smile on a face and making others happy is an outstanding work and that is what sir has done. Mr.Prahlad’s astounding talents gave me a lot of happiness and relieved me from the study pressure. His acts were not only filled with fun but also had learning in it. It inculcates moral values in us and shows us the methods to make our studies simple. In future I am sure whenever I will recall these incredible acts, there will always be a smile on my face and also feel happy to have seen it.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces and the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world, trains the cadets in marches, organises blood donation camps and social development programmes. It trains and groom young boys as responsible citizens and future leaders of our great country in all walks of life, including the defence forces. The NCC is a voluntary “Tri-service Organisation” which includes the army, the naval and the wings. Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best school in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh has a NCC unit which lets the students experience the world that they have to survive in after completing their education. It guides them to pursue practical knowledge of the outside world through the means of various competitions, making a student confident, practical and self-sufficient. These activities not only work as a stress buster but also help the students expand their mental horizons. Reminiscence of Students: Nikhil: I am Nikhil and always dreamt to be an NCC cadet. Now I am a NCC cadet. NCC for me is a platform that enabled me to check and enhance my abilities to join the Indian Defence Services. The certificates that we receive have an advantage over various recruitment processes. The NCC grooms the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens and moulds  them into energetic and responsible civilians of the country. They recruit members (cadets) from schools and colleges across the country and are given basic military training in small arms and parades. Bhargav : I am Bhargav of class X. I feel proud to be part of NCC. I have always heard about it and wanted to experience it. Finally I got the opportunity to be part of it. I went on an 8 day CATC camp at Steel Plant where I became part of many activities and learnt to adapt myself in harsh conditions. Earlier I was lazy to be part of any physical activity but in camp I went for jogging and different exercises which made me a different person. I also understood how discipline is important in our life. Sidhardha: I am Sidhardha, and my camping experience gave me a new dimension to my thoughts and life. I felt strange at the beginning because I was provided with limited resources and had to adjust with the same. There were no living comforts and I had to follow a strict schedule which was quite difficult. Waking up early, doing exercises and following the time table was a very strange experience for me. I also interacted with the other cadets during the co curricular activities and built a strong bonding with them. In the end it was a learning experience and I did not want to leave the camp. Soumil: I am Soumil. I went for a Firing Camp at INS CIRCARS, Nausena Baugh as a Best Cadet. NCC has ignited and energised me by giving me a new understanding of the perspective of life. I learnt three things, stability of action with discipline, being a helping hand is essential and the meaning of being a NCC Cadet. I feel proud to say that I have inculcated the motto of NCC “Unity and Discipline”.

Charity is Giving Happines

Mother Teresa has touched the lives of millions through her presence and acts of charity. She left us with enduring wisdom to inspire our faith.  In her words and especially in her actions, we see a life of love. Her zeal and dedication to the people she loved and helped showed her humanitarian quality to the world. To inculcate this quality in students, what occasion can be better than the Birth Anniversary of Mother Teresa when Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best cbse school in Visakhapatnam organised a visit to an old age home.  The present world is a materialistic world and it is highly important in this world to exhibit and create experiences which establish the fact that sharing and caring make a person happy. It is said that not all can do great things but small things can be done with great love. The giver is as happy as the receiver and to bring this joy of giving and caring, students were willing to share. They brought articles such as fruits, bed sheets, towels and toiletries to be given to the inmates of Sadhguru Sai Ashram at Bheemunipatnam.  Few children along with the teachers visited the ashram, participated in the prayer at Sai Baba Temple in the premises before they personally gifted the items brought fondly by them. The students were touched by the gesture they received from the elders and they could also feel their happiness. The elders were glad to have spent their time with the children and they advised the students to study sincerely, love their family and respect them. The  students understood the importance of family and their presences in life. The act of charity evoked a noteworthy feeling of peace and calmness in them. They realised that happiness cannot be gained by receiving but by giving.  I feel good to be a part of this charity as it gave me a new outlook towards life. I have never been to oldage home and also never shared anything with others, other than my family and friends. Seeing them smile while they received the articles melted my heart. They gave me blessings and wished me to be happy and prosperous in future. I felt so relieved and it was a new experience for me. – G. Lakshya, VII I was sad to see how people could leave their elders alone to survive. They had no relatives to talk to them and were not taken care of by their children as well. But at the same time I also felt relieved  that atleast there is some organisation that is looking after them and giving them food and shelter. They had built a strong bonding among them and also they do have extra activities to keep themselves engaged. I had great experience visiting them. – Aratrik Pal, VIII I went to oldage home on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Mother Teresa with my schoolmates. I interacted with elders residing there and they blessed us when we gave them fruits and toiletries. I was surprised to see that they have trained a dog to live with them and everyone loved that dog very much. The dog was like a friend to them and they said that he also takes care of them. I was happy to see that other than the elders they also took care of animals and made it a part of their life. – Shaurya Shekhar, VII
