Shrimad Bhagwat Gita often referred to as Gita, is a 700 verse Hindu sculpture that is part of the Epic Mahabharata. Bhagavad Gita is universal renowned as the jewel of India’s spiritual wisdom. The Bhagavad Gita sloka recitation by the students, S. Sitarama of grade 5 S. V. Adyanth Arjun of grade 5 A. Adrith of Grade 3 G. Sai Charan of Grade 3 N.Manohar of Grade 5 highlighted the significance of Lord Krishna's teachings in our lives. Role plays, depicting the life of Krishna, were also performed, by six students, S. Shanmukh Nandan as Krishna, P. Eshira Kira as Yashoda, P. Shanmukh as Uddhava, Shrisha Shreshtha as Meera Bai, Krithik Chandan as Kamsa, Kunal Seithya as Sudhama, showcasing the students’ creativity and talent. Little Krishna is fond of playing the flute, singing and dancing with his friends in Vrindavan. Music plays a vital role in our life. Soothing effect of melodious voices give peace to the mind. Singing is a blessing to the singers as well as the audience. The vocal choir's rendition of a Krishna song was a treat to the ears. While the skit on Krishna's friendship with Sudama performed by the junior primary wing, was a heartwarming portrayal of the power of true friendship and the triumph of love over material wealth, to a world of devotion, loyalty, and the magic of Krishna’s realm. The skit was followed by yet another cantillating dance, by the primary students to present a stunning Krishna dance. The heat was just turned on and the vibrant journey through the traditional Indian folk dance, Kolattam begun as the students of grade 4 and 5 with their synchronized steps and twinkling smiles, showcased the beauty of unity and rhythm. The kolatam performance by the students was a vibrant display of color and rhythm, while the fancy dress competition saw the tiny tots dressed up as Krishna, Radha, and Gopika, stealing the show with their cuteness. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a special kolatam performance by the mothers, which was a wonderful surprise. The day ended with prasad distribution, leaving everyone with a sense of joy and contentment. Recently, our school, one of the best in Cambridge in Visakhapatnam, had a stimulating seminar from Prof.Rama MohanRao Kotagiri, being one of the Fellows of Australia, both of the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering. Having spent over three decades from 1980 up to 2020 at University of Melbourne, Prof Kotagiri provided us with a detailed look at the two revolutions of this century called AI and ML and in a nutshell told us much of their transformative potential. The seminar started with Prof. Kotagiri, speaking about the exponential growth of data because of the internet and the web and many other automatic devices that generate data. He stressed that data eventually becomes information and then knowledge through complex processes and powerful computational models. A key highlight was the description of such path-breaking AI models as AlphaZero and AlphaGo, which demonstrate how AI can challenge human limitations, playing games like chess and Go against themselves and defeating world champions. These examples illustrated how AI capabilities are not only innovative but can surpass human expertise in specific domains.Our school, known for having one of the best curricula in the region, was particularly proud to host such an enriching session that emphasized the depth and scope of these advancements. One of the most interesting points that Prof. Kotagiri raised was regarding AlphaFold 3, an AI system that changed the game in protein studies. He explained how AlphaFold 3 could predict protein structures with astonishing accuracy, helping scientists understand the interactions of molecules that were fundamental to life. It was a technological development that received a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2024 and shows the profound influence of AI on fields such as medicine and biology. Another interesting topic covered was Neuralink, a company which is working to help paralyzed people communicate by allowing them to control devices with their brain activity. Prof. Kotagiri mentioned that the future of Neuralink would be to enhance memory, cognitive abilities, and even motor, sensory, and visual functions, while also curing neurological disorders. This is an example of the actual application of AI in the quality of life for many people. The seminar also highlighted the influence of such LLMs as GPT- 4. Prof. Kotagiri mentioned that GPTs can translate and process over 160 languages and even create human-like text based on the input they receive. However, he also warned that though such models are impressive, they are not infallible and sometimes give incorrect answers. The takeaway was that even the most complex AI systems err, and it is natural to err-something even experts experience. Prof. Kotagiri presented valuable insights on how Machine Learning functions. The basic steps include the gathering of training data, choosing the decision and loss functions, specifying the goals, and then training with SGD. The concept is that of finding a function f which connects an input x to an output y, as demonstrated with simple examples like linear regression. While he was going deep into the neural networks, Prof. Kotagiri showed us the strength to learn complex features, act like highly non-linear predictors, and serve as a parallel network of logistic regression classifiers. The professor also explained the concept of backpropagation, which enables efficient computation of gradients, a core part of current machine learning. In the concluding session of his seminar, Prof. Kotagiri was enlightening and inspiring. He stressed that while AI continues to grow rapidly, integrating domain knowledge with AI remains a challenge. Nonetheless, the potential for real-world problem- solving through AI is immense. To thrive in this evolving field, he emphasized the importance of mastering the basics: computing, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and languages. The more languages one can speak, the better one’s brain will function. Prof. Kotagiri's words left us understanding that the future of AI bodes boundless opportunities, and we must be well-prepared to harness them.

This commitment was recently highlighted when we participated in the Great Kindness Challenge an event designed to inspire and promote acts of kindness among students. This gathering aimed to educate and engage our students in the importance of kindness, sustainability, and cultural diversity. Firstly, A doodling competition amongst students for the theme of “Kindness in my view” took place, where several students showcased their exceptional talent in artistry. The event took place in the school’s conference hall, starting with a motivational dialogue by our enthusiastic host. The host’s words set the tone for the day, emphasizing the power of kindness and how small acts can create a significant impact on the world around us. Following the opening remarks, the students took a Green Pledge. This pledge was a promise to strive towards sustainability and to preserve the natural environment. It was a moment of reflection, where students acknowledged their role in protecting the planet and committed to actions that support its health and vitality. To further deepen the understanding of kindness, a PowerPoint was delivered by two students. The presentation highlighted various aspects of kindness, including its definition, significance, and the different ways it can be practised daily, making it clear that kindness is not just a moral obligation but a necessity for a harmonious society. Furthermore, some students shared their real-time experiences of kindness and had briefed about what kindness meant for them. They spoke about moments when they either gave or received kindness and how these experiences shaped their perspectives, illustrating that kindness is a universal language everyone understands. Adding a dynamic and interactive element to the event, a rally-based lesson was conducted. A group of students paraded through the hall carrying boards that displayed the word “thank you” in various languages, both international and national languages of India. This rally was accompanied by the school percussion band, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere. The quote “We carry our languages like we carry our confidence” was reiterated the whole time, reminding everyone that our cultural identities are a source of strength and pride. This was to foster a sense of global connectedness and appreciation for cultural diversity. This was an immensely effective effort of the faculty and student Council altogether, evident in such a short yet sweet symposium. The Great Kindness Challenge for the month was more than just a school event; it was an experience that reinforced the values of empathy, sustainability, and cultural appreciation among our students.
