In the heart of our school(Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, the best cbse school in Vizag) lies a sanctuary of innovation, where young minds are nurtured to become the architects of tomorrow’s solutions- the ATL (Atal Tinkering Lab) – pulsating with the energy of creativity, technology, and a relentless pursuit of making a difference. It’s fosters not only tinkering but also the practical implementation of groundbreaking ideas.
In the ATL students are encouraged to delve deep into real-world problems. Innovation transcends the mere creation; to understanding the challenges faced by people and developing tangible solutions- going beyond conventional thinking.
Recently, our ATL embarked on a remarkable journey with the ATL Marathon, a platform that witnessed the convergence of over 12,200 innovations from students across India – the highest participation to date. Two of our projects, “Translator Glasses” and “Swipe and Drive,” soared to the top 400, evidence to the resourcefulness thriving within our walls.
“Translator Glasses” is a project inspired by the struggles faced by tourists and migrants, especially those with physical challenges. Recognizing that existing translator apps and websites cater to a specific audience, our project aimed to bridge the gap for those who are visually challenged or are speech/ hearing impaired. The innovation boasts five translation modes – audio to audio, video to video, audio to video, video to audio, and text-to-speech. It ensures that communication is accessible to everyone.
The project, “Swipe and Drive” tackles the pervasive issue of vehicle theft and unauthorized driving. Departing from conventional ignition systems, our project introduces an access card embedded with the owner’s personal information, such as Aadhar card number, thumb impression, and driving license details ensuring the owner’s exclusive access adding an extra layer of security against theft and potential accidents.
The success of these projects is not just a result of technical prowess; it’s a reflection of the support, encouragement, and mentorship provided by our dedicated ATL faculty. The ATL Marathon journey has been a collective effort and this spirit propelled our ideas into the limelight on a national stage.
Moreover, the ATL lab is a breeding ground for a myriad of ideas that address real-world problems. The Automatic Irrigation System, for instance, accurately detects soil moisture levels and waters plants accordingly. Another groundbreaking idea is the Alcoholic Detecting Sensor, designed to prevent intoxicated individuals from getting behind the wheel.
At our core, we are Prakashites – students shaped and guided by the ethos of our ATL and school management. The unwavering encouragement and commitment of our staff and teachers towards our holistic development empower us to actively participate in diverse activities. The ATL lab is not just a physical space; it’s a catalyst for personal and intellectual growth.
Our journey through the ATL has been a journey into the potential that lies within each student.
